I am overwhelmed :-)
That is really great, first blog posting and within 3 days 59 people from 10 countries have read it. And it is not only my friends (like Thilo, lawyer from NY - @Thilo: I would not mind if you stop following if it is getting too boring for you ;-) but also real people from the GDS and MDM community. Met today a guy from Italy and one from Spain and both mentioned that they have read it :-)
Congrats to all of you! And keep following - and commenting ;-)

ReplyDeleteActually, I'm fascinated. Granted, you are writing about something I truly do not understand. However, I am always ready to learn something new. So for now, I'll keep reading.
Now, if only I knew what MDM and GDS stand for ... :-)
Best to you and Karo,
Thilo
MDM = Master Data Management - master data is for example the description of your products you are selling, or the addresses of your suppliers. MDM describes the business process within a company to maintain that master data (simplest way somebody is typing the product description of "Nutella" into their SAP system).
ReplyDeleteGDS = Global Data Synchronisation - is a standardized process to exchange master data (esp product data) between suppliers and retailers. For example is Walmart selling many of the products of P&G, Henkel and others and they need the product data. So suppliers prepare the data and send it electronically via GDS to the retailers.
This whole blog is around MDM and how it relates to GDS and stories around it. Actually I want to share some of the best practices but also challenge how things are developing right now.
Actually that is what I am working on whole day :-)
Hope this helps a little bit ;-)
Excellent! Thanks.
